Bored The Truth about being the best: Five Back-to-basic tips to help create a culture of greatness (and the power by the recession)
Being the best is no great secret. The power of making small, €, the boring stuff right bearings "again and again. A
By Jon Gordona
And if everyone in your company worked tirelessly to be the best? The best salesman € | the best professional customer service € | the best manager € | best (LETA € ™ s just said) or Blogger cake decorator or industry business nonprofit fundraising? Itâ € ™ its simple concept, but with profound implications. After all, a society composed of the finest people in the company itself is the best of '€ Business "and though not sure of Paris, the best is the closest to youâ € ™ ll never get to a meeting out of recession map Free.
Any company can create a culture of greatness. Why not nâ € ™? Probably because nâ € ™ t know how. People tend to think there ™ € is a kind of magic formula or a secret formula for being the best, but Câ € ™ s not true.
For an individual's greatness is all about fundamentals. Itâ € ™ s how the basic right, again and again every day a week. For a company, CA € ™ s each employee to do so. Itâ € ™ s not so complicated, Really € "and if Wea € ™ I have learned nothing from the recession Itâ € ™ s that companies that focus on the basic concepts are to survive when times get tough.
Eleven traits and habits that separate â € œThe Best € from the remains of OETH €, â € and I reveal in my new book "Field Training: What is the best do better than everyone Else (Wiley, 2009, ISBN: 978-0-470-46208-9, $ 22.95). Get all employees in your company absorb and practice and soon we strongly recommend you € ™ with a team unstoppableâ Thata € ™ s € "Yes, even in an economy deadlocked.
Energy Anyone can succeed if you focus, initiative, dedication and positive need to do.
Images Camp Training is based on my work with teams like the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars and world class organizations such as Campbell Soup, Northwestern Mutual, Publix Super Markets, JP Morgan, Texas Children € ™ s Hospital and the FBI. Despite their friendship, everybody-loves-a-kind approach to history, Ita € ™ s with practical information that works.
Training camp is about what it takes to reach the top of his game € "everything that the game can be. Itâ € ™ s all about the habits of the best of the best in all professions have in common. Leaders who can anchor these habits in their culture that the approach is slow and steady turtle does not really work.
Here are some tips for getting back to basics: Â
Be prepared to Outwork everyone. You may think that the best is an accident of birth, some people have superior genes or become born to parents living in the right zip code. Not true. You become the best through hard work and focus œzoom € € in the (often low and ordinary and boring) the fundamentals of your particular job until them.es teacher
Things I read a story about Will Smith, he He attributes his success as an actor to his strong work ethic. He told an interviewer, IAEA € â € ™ m not afraid to die on a treadmill. I'm not going to be worked harder. You may be more talented than me. It may be smarter than me. And you can be more beautiful than me. But if we descend along a tape first, or IA € ™ m going to die. Itâ € ™ s that simple. Iâ € ™ m going to be outworked.â € Â
I love that quote! And I think the lesson for companies is twofold. One, make sure your employees are hardworking, eager to improve their individual professional skills until they master them. Talent issues, of course, but issues more perseverance. Two, make sure that your company takes its course long enough to become the best at what you do. If you keep your strategy or transfer your target market, why can not t ™ € happen.Â
Get the little things. Remember, there is a secret recipe for the best. The trick is to put the recipe € ™ s the ingredients together. The best action each day and € Not common tasks "return phone calls, writing reports, input customer information, prepare for meetings € "with unusual emphasis, dedication and commitment to excellence.Â
To give an example, the large manufacturers do the same thing to poor sales. They therefore more carefully and consistently. And big companies are made up of employees who do what thei ™ € was supposed to do every day a week. Â
Nâ € ™ t lower your standards when no ™ € ONEA s looking for. I to tell the story of a director executive who has insisted that its companyA € ™ s mail room, that any customer who goes to visit kept clean and tidy at all times. His point? The best do right even if nobody can see, and the mailroom is a symbol. The same could be said that the same behavior as surfing the web when the boss is in a meeting or speak ill of customers behind their backs.Â
Remember, the best is about forming good habits. If employees do the right thing all Over time, the nature of the thing will be the second when counts.Â
Nâ € ™ t focus on results. Instead, focus on process that takes you there. You know what the motivation gurus are always told that their goal œvisualize â € €? Disagree with this philosophy. In the same way as great athletes stay in the moment rather than obsessing about the game result, large companies maintain their collective nose of stone, Zoom focusing on daily tasks that were big in the first place.
A great example is Organic Valley, a supplier of organic dairy products, products, meats and other natural foods. Each year continues to grow dramatically, however, nâ € ™ t have a â € € œoutcomeâ goal in mind. Instead, focus on your objectives and processes, feeding your growth.Â
Whatever you do, nâ € ™ t rest in the proverbial laurels. Despite popular conception, the success doesn € ™ Is very successful career. It breeds complacency. The coaches and business leaders fear more often successful than fear failure. Too often a team will have a successful season or a player will have a good year and when he returns next season, believe that all they have to do is be present and thei € ™ ll enjoy the same results, not least that was hard work, concentration, and the process that helped them create their success.Â
Well, what happens in business, too. When you think you've arrived at the door of greatness is when it hit in the face. The key is to always be innovative, offering new products and services, improving customer service, and have an advantage over its competitors. The solution is to stay humble and hungry.Â
Perhaps youâ € ™ re afraid that times are so hard and competition is so fierce that become the best company in your industry are out of reach. Thata € ™ s the wrong idea. The truth is that the gap between â OETH bestå € € € and â € OETH remained very, very small.
In baseball, see the difference between a .250 hitter and a batter, 350. If one calculates 162 games per year, 4 or 5 bats a game, the difference between a .250 hitter and a pitcher, 350 is only 1.7 hits per week. Itâ € ™ s the little things that separate the first the rest. If you can do these things important only 10 percent better than the competition, can rise to the surface of their field.
But Itâ € ™ s the kind of thing that can € ™ t happen by decree. It must come from the workers themselves. They need to know what exercises are and they want to do the training. Once these conditions, the sky is the limit.Â

Eleven Traits the Best of the Best
Taken from Training Camp: What is the best do better than others (Wiley, 2009, ISBN: 978-0-470-46208-9, $ 22.95), by Jon Gordon
A 1. The best know what they really want. At some point his life, the better to have a œEureka â €! € A moment when his vision becomes clear. Suddenly realize what you really really want to accomplish. They find their passion. When this happens, are willing to strive for greatness. They are willing to pay the price.
A 2. The Better still want more. Everyone wants to be great. But only the best of the best are willing to do whatever it takes to be great. The best nâ € ™ t just think about your wishes of grandeur, which act on it. They have a strong ability to work. They do things that other Wona € ™ t do, and spend more time doing it. When everyone is asleep, best practices and thought and improvement.
A 3. The best are always willing to improve. They're always looking ways to learn, apply, improve and grow. They remain humble and hungry. They are lifelong learners. Never think œarrivedâ € â € â € "because know that once they think thei € ™ ll begin to fall back to where they came from.
It has 4. The best do better than normal. For all his greatness, the best T Arena € ™ a lot better than others. They are only slightly better in a lot of things. Everyone thinks that success is complicated, but Itâ € ™ s really simple. In fact, the best T ™ € nâ do otherwise. There are few things more regular.
A 5. The Best-focus zoom. Success is all about fundamentals and basic principles are usually small and often boring. Itâ € ™ s not only practice, but the specific practice. Itâ € ™ not only action, but extend the taking of specific measures. Itâ € ™ s about the practice and improving fundamentals.
A 6. The best are stronger mentally. Todai € ™ s world is no longer is a sprint or a marathon. Itâ € ™ combined their series of sprints at a boxing match. Not youâ € ™ re running well, you will knock over the road. The best are able to react and get through this rigorous mental and emotional. They are able to handle distractions and stay calm, focused and dynamic when necessary.
A 7. The best way to overcome his fear. Everyone is afraid. The best of the best were all afraid, but overcome it. To overcome your enemy is to know the enemy. Average people can escape their fears. They ignore or hide. However, the best to find and confront them with the intention of conquer.
8. The best seize the moment. When the best are at the heart of its activities, not â € œWhat if I win? â € or â € œWhat if I lose? I do not think â € â € œWhat if I make a mistake or miss the shot? Â €, no interest for this material, but still I do not care what they produce at the time. When all eyes are watching, they rise to the occasion. Consequently, to better define the moment rather than letting when defined.
A 9. The best touch in a power greater than themselves. The best drivers are not resistance. It nâ € ™ t produce their own energy, they act as conduits for more important energy source in the world. Itâ € ™ s not always politically correct but you can € ™ talking about greatness without mentioning God. It would be like talking breathe without mentioning the importance of the air.
A 10. Best stop a legacy. The best live and work more efficiently. They leave a legacy to make your life more than them. The broader goal is what inspires to be the best and aspire to long-term greatness. This helps them move from success to significance.
A 11. The best way to better everyone around them. Is done via Your search for excellence and excellence is inspiring others. A person in the pursuit of excellence is the rules around the world around them. And they become Life at work and € | It is the intent of being your best and inspire others to be their best because Câ € ™ s in the effort when you see greatness, and not the result.
